FDA Warning Issued to Meat Producer ONE YEAR Too Late!!!!

(NaturalNews) The recent batch of warning letters issued by the FDA once again causes me to worry about eating anything. One in particular –- FDA warning letter dated July, 2 2008 to Chief Operating Officer at Full Circle Dairy in Lee, FL proves the FDA is so 'after the fact' it is a wonder we all aren't sick.

The FDA warning letter to Full Circle Dairy was dated July 2, 2008 –- the inspection of this dairy farm took place on Feb. 2, 2008 and Feb. 11, 2008 –- five months earlier. Worse yet, the warning letter reprimanded Full Circle Dairy for selling medicated animals processed in human food in June 2007 and August 2007. A warning letter was mailed five months after the incident was discovered and one year after the incident had occurred! Your tax dollars at work.

Per the warning letter, "On or about August 7, 2007 you sold a dairy cow for slaughter as food on or about August 9, 2007... analysis of tissue samples collected from that animal identified the presence of flunixin in the liver tissue." Flunixin is a FDA regulated veterinarian drug used to alleviate fevers and pain. Side effects include GI ulceration, kidney damage and bleeding problems. Also the warning letter cites "On or about June 2, 2007 you sold a dairy cow slaughtered as food on or about June 4, 2007... analysis of tissue samples collected from that animal identified the presence of penicillin in the kidney tissue." Both drugs and levels found in the animal tissue caused the meat to be determined adulterated. And one more: "Our investigation also found that you hold animals under conditions that are so inadequate that medicated animals bearing potentially harmful drug residues are likely to enter the food supply."

It is unbelievable that the FDAcan wait five months after they discover a farm is selling illegal adulterated animals as food to warn them. The warning letter was mailed one year after two incidents took place -- that adulterated meat is long gone.

You should know that meat producing animals that don't slip through the gaping holes of FDA/USDA inspections are still considered suitable for use in pet food. Drugged or sick animals that are rejected for use in human food are not shipped back to the farm to recover; they are processed into pet food. Regardless of the drugs in the animals, regardless of the illness, all is welcome meat ingredients in pet food. If you do not want your pet eating these types of adulterated meat you must call the pet food manufacturer and ask if they use 'human grade' meats. There is no indication on the pet food label to alert you. Some will try to bypass a direct answer and tell you all meat ingredients come from a 'USDA facility'. Well, those sick, drugged animals came from a 'USDA facility'. Make sure you press them to tell you if the meat used in the pet food is specifically a 'human grade/quality'. Of course, thanks to our diligent friends at the FDA, our pests are still not safe from drugged and diseased animals being processed into human foods –- but it is a great deal safer than what is legally allowed to be processed into pet foods.

Please call or write your Congress and Senate Representative, urge them to watch the FDA like a hawk. The health of every human and every pet in the U.S. depends on it.

Wishing you and your pet the best,

Susan Thixton

Oil spill in Mississippi river: 380,000 gallons of #6 fuel oil

On July 23, 2008, a tanker and barge collided near downtown New Orleans, LA, resulting in a spill of over 9000 barrels (380,000) gallons of #6 fuel oil. The incident occurred at approximately 0130 local time. The barge was reported "ripped in half," discharging its entire contents. Coast Guard, Louisiana State and NOAA responders are on-scene.

No. 5 fuel oil and No. 6 fuel oil are called residual fuel oils (RFO) or heavy fuel oils. As far more No. 6 than No. 5 is produced, the terms heavy fuel oil and residual fuel oil are sometimes used as synonyms for No. 6. They are what remains of the crude oil after gasoline and the distillate fuel oils are extracted through distillation. No. 5 fuel oil is a mixture of No. 6 (about 75-80%) with No. 2. No. 6 may also contain a small amount of No. 2 to get it to meet specifications. Residual fuel oils are sometimes called light when they have been mixed with distillate fuel oil, while distillate fuel oils are called heavy when they have been mixed with residual fuel oil.

WhyFI??? Why Wi-Fi technology could be a health problem and how Europe (France and Sweden are taking measures)

Just got this great article about 4 French librairies that turned their WiFi connections OFF after staff members experienced health problems.
Also, the Swedish Association for the ElectroSensitive (which is a health condition) is a good resource to understand more about the impact of those frequencies.

Thank you to Dr. Mercola for such pertinent information.

I never wanted to get WiFi, ever, and I'm staying away from it,  all those coffeeshops with WiFi is way too much...
So are cellphones, stay away from them if you can, and the big one, micro-wave ovens, what bullshit this is, if you need to reheat leftovers or just heat up food get a steamer...
We've got to stop poising ourselves like that!

Stay healthy, somehow!

Love,
S.

Transportation ethics

I came across this very very interesting interview of New York Times Magazine's Randy Cohen.

I keep telling people how living my life on foot (I am not biking yet, soon) keeps me connected to myself and people around me, I have time to stop and talk, I am accessible...etc...

A good video for LJ, Tomdog, Seawall etc as well

;))

Hope you all enjoy and we can all re-think the way we live and impact everybody else's lives.

Maxine's words

Music is my sister,
Music is my brother,
Music is my girlfriend.

By Maxine Lee.

Nov, 23rd 2007.

After that I couldn't help it and played her a video (no cds of his, I know my brother Laurent does!!!) of John Miles singing "Music", ya know!
It's actually a pretty good live version where he sings it full voice, pretty cool with a philarmonic orchestra of some sort, yeah, remember the strings AND the horns ala Alan Parsons, oh of course!

Hahaha, oh well, between jazz, reggae, middle eastern, French, Brazilian etc etc, a little John Miles is okay, a bit of everything hm.

Love you all,

S.

We are being sprayed and tree sitters and protesters are being pepper sprayed...

This is a very sad week for Santa Cruz...
Since 8pm tonight, we can finally here airplanes flying over our heads releasing a never before tested pesticide to disrupt light brown apple moths to mate...
This has been and is still a very disturbing matter...
I feel sick to my stomach...
Lawsuits have been filed from the city of Santa Cruz and SC's residents and so on but what can you do when money is involved...
In other very very bad news is the standoff between tree sitters and the police that occured today at UCSC because of the University's plan to build a science facility on acres with lots of redwood trees!!! For the sake of the Sillicon Valley!!!! dammit!
This turned veryyy ugly, more here.

And I am sitting here...

And if this wasn't enough, what used to be our local newspaper has moved to  another city next door, Scotts Valley (and their presses have been gone for a few months now sharing those of the San Jose Mercury news) because you know, they have been bought by a out of town owner...
I actually was walking by with Maxine the very morning the moving trucks were there and were emptying the building...
I've only been here for 6 years but I feel for everyone and for the sake of this city and its spirit...

;((((

ColumBUSTED!

We've all been lied to about Columbus.
Before Columbus sailed the Atlantic, he was a slave trader for the Portuguese, transporting West African people to Portugal to be sold as slaves. Columbus initiated the first Trans-Atlantic slave trade. Columbus, brother and son continued slave trading of indigenous peoples from the Americas to Europe, and from Africa to the Caribbean. Under his administration as viceroy and governor of the Caribbean Islands, 8 million people were killed, making his "contribution" to history the first mass genocide of indigenous peoples. The Columbus legacy is steeped in blood, violence and death.

The Transform Columbus Day Alliance believes public holidays celebrating Columbus not only teach children to honor a cruel and brutal man, but they also encourage people to ignore and possibly support racist practices that are embedded in social, economic, political, and judicial systems.

The research below will guide you in critically evaluating the role of Christopher Columbus and his legacy of his oppression and cultural domination.

Maxine's first week at school

So,

This is big, huge.

Maxine has started pre-school yesterday!
First time ever cause her dad and I have been homeschooling her, no problem, she is actually advanced, she can write and read a few words but still one year of pre-school is awesome!
We just couldn't afford it before now.
Actually thank you grand-ma.

So now, I get to have time, well not exactly, I am going to do lots of things and make more money (I might be on the computer here and there but not much, other things to do!) but it's so new to me, so strange not having my daughter with me, a bit hard to let go and to let other people take care of her, but I am so happy cause she's is the happiest girl, she loves it and was so ready for it...and it was time...

This is a new chapter in our lives.

Yay Maxine!

I love you,

My name is

Do you sometimes make up a name when you go somewhere and have to put your name on the waiting list or something??

Way before the internet I used to communicate on our "mini internet" call the minitel and those days were the same as here, we would have all chosen a nickname/screename etc...
Since it was in French I won't even go there but we would sometimes meet up and often would have to book a table at a restaurant for instance, the funniest part was the reservation process, for instance, one of us named herself (unshamesly haha) Lucrèce Borgia hahah, I still laugh at this...but it was so much fun doing it and waiting to see the response of the person on the phone for instance and see if they would even know...

Anyway, the other day, sweet Jeff invited me to have lunch somewhere and the night before I saw Molière at the movies (go see it, even if one can argue the fact that he got all his material from personal experience and so on...), so I put the name Molière on the waiting list, I really thought the guy wouldn't know, hell, he did, he said it right and had a good time with it and said a few French words and mentioned the fact that Molière was a master playwriter...wow!!!!
That was great!

Now, of course I am wondering if any of you did anything similar??

;))

California's High speed train is not for tomorrow...

Just heard on the news tonight about the ordeal of the California High speed train project...
Basically in December, decisions will be made on what route this bullet train would take, either SF directly to Sacramento then L.A. or something, or SF to San Jose and blahblah...

Then, the issue is to be proposed on the 2008's ballot...and they said it would take 15 years to be completed...

Well, my friends, like one of the pros said "We are 30 years behind Europe and Japan"...yep, I can't imagine what California would be with those bullet trains network...

Assemblymember Fiona Me was on board the French/UK TGV (Train grande vitesse/High speed train) when it last broke the world record...

Living in Paris, going to London, Amsterdam or simply the riviera or the French Alps is a piece of cake, living in anywhere in France or in Europe for that matter...
I had such great opportunities taking it to Amsterdam or anywhere.

Gosh we need that train here...

10 crushes my way! and I'll make it 11 hahaha!!!

Well, since I can't seem to upload pics you might have to click on the names of the few you might not know and that's it ahaha, I mean, I guess I am cheating and those are not the rules but hey, rules are meant to be broken hm?

1- So, my first "public eye" crush was I guess this young fellow, he was on tv and was charismatic and was known as Sebastien in the tv series and had this huge dog adopting him, if you will, and so that's where that band called itself
Belle and Sebastian for instance, they too watched little Mehdi El Glaoui as Sebastien (in French) and myself was particuliarly fond of him and his poney Polly, and their adventures, I wonder if my crush was not more for the poney, hahaha...

2- That's a classic, when I tell people I was in love with Paul McCartney, all I would hear was "You're not the only one...", well I might not but I am still in love with him, I wish he was my Gemini!!! Plus, his voice will enchant me till I die AND he's an AWESOME bass player!!!

3- Big big crush, again, I am not the only one, oh well...
When Yves Montand sings I would let the pot burn and the whole house shake, I could care less!!!
Awesome actor as well, you have got to see him in L'aveu, the confession, or Z. etc...

4- Surprise surprise!!!
Who would have thought, but yes I have (still) and may he rest in peace, have a huge crush on Jack Lemmon!!!

5- Hmmm, so Desertlily might like this one, she was wondering about hot French men, here's one, Melvil Poupaud.
He can look angelic or dark, hmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmm, plus what's super sexy about him is his brother actually as well hahaha cause he was the French band FFF (FEDERATION FRANCAISE DE FONCK)'s guitar player, that's sexy!

6- So, to this day I am crazy about this actor, he could play a nun or whatever I'd still be crazy for him, he is the one and only James Spader, oh yeahhhh

7- Another French MAN, yeah a MAN, hmmmm, though subtile and quiet, the oh so wonderful Sami Frey, wonderful actor

8-Ahhh this one is like all those crushes when you're not even sure why, this guy has something, hmmmmmmmmmmmmm!
He's Ed Kowalczyk (Utah, is it Polish?) from the band LIVE, I like when he sings with Tricky on Evolution/Revolution/Love

9- Jacques Brel, quintessential

10- Hmmmmm, wonderful French actor, I would loooove to see him on stage playing Molière or else, hmmm Philippe Torreton

Voilaaaaaaaaaa, my list!!!! My MEN, hmmmm!!!

Oh but waiiiit!!!!!

My biggest crush is Craig Ferguson of course!!!!!!!!

HAHAHAh, my naughty monkeyyyyyyyyzzzzzzzz
